OUR FIRST CRUISE

Watch the video about our first cruise right here!

We have waiting to go on our cruise since we got married in 2020. With COVID-19 we had to postpone until now, January 2023! Over all we enjoyed our time on Carnival Liberty. The unlimited soft serve was a highlight; we enjoyed mixing vanilla soft serve with the lemonade to make a frozen lemonade! Our five day cruise started with us leaving Port Canaveral, Florida on a Monday. The next morning we made port in Nassau, Bahamas.

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Tuesday, 10:00 AM we disembarked and joined our group for the Nassau walking tour ($35 per person). We climbed up Queen’s Staircase, visited Fort Fincastle, walked through Parliament Square, and end up where we started in Rawson Square. Afterwords, our tour guide gave us directions on where the local beach was located (about 20 min. walk).

After the tour we found the least crowed spot we could and marveled at how blue the water looked. The walking tour was good for our first time in Nassau, but I could have been just as happy spending all my time at the beach. After we took some fun photos we headed back to the port to enjoy a well deserved late lunch.

Later that evening after dinner, we enjoyed part of a movie on the Lido deck as we waited for the PG comedy show to start at the comedy club. We are not ones to party so after the show we hung out on the balcony attached to our room. Totally worth the extra money in my opinion, especially as an introvert.

Wednesday, 8:00 AM we took a short ferry ride to get to the shore of Princess Cays. Originally we weren’t planning on doing an excursion while we were there but we decided to try the clear bottom kayaking tour ($50 per person). Oh my goodness… it was probably the highlight of our trip! It was not what we were expecting. We kayaked in one of the lagoons on the island and our tour guide gave us a hands on experience with some of the wildlife there. We held sea stars, conch shells, sea urchins, sea biscuits, and even a baby sea turtle! It was SO much fun! the whole tour lasted maybe an hour and a half which left us plenty of time to chill at the beach the rest of the day.

The cruise line provided a lunch buffet on the island which was alright, An over cooked hamburger never tasted so good as I stood on the white sandy beaches and admired the bluest ocean water I had ever seen.

Thursday, the day at sea. We took this time to sleep in and enjoy the open seas on our balcony. I tried to get a little tan but I think my freckles just played connect the dots instead. Needless to say this was the most relaxing day we had on the cruise. With no where to be unless we wanted to participate in the actives on board we just enjoyed the salty air and the warm sun rays.

We did eat in the dining room on the first night but socializing with people I’ve never met for two hours on vacation is not ideal (the people we were sat with were really nice just not my optimal vacation experience). So, we enjoyed the buffet most nights along with more soft serve. Duh.

All-in-all I think we would cruise again but I think we would look into a different cruise line. One with a more relaxed crowd.
